Dog Training Course

Dog Training Course $750

At Inception K9 Academy, our Dog Training Course is one of the most advanced dog obedience courses of its kind.  This course is for dogs a year old or older.  In this course, you will learn everything you need to know about owning a new dog, as well as several dog obedience commands.   This course is 8 weeks long and is a one-on-one training course.  We meet up once a week for one hour to go over and discuss the dog training material and dog obedience commands for that particular week.

During our one hour session, the dog trainer will go over and  demonstrate how to conduct the commands for the week with your dog.  After the demonstration, the dog trainer will then hand your dog back to you for you to  emulate the motions and gestures performed in the demonstration.  Once you and the dog trainer agree that you feel comfortable with the commands, then they will  demonstrate the homework for the week.  This homework is designed to ensure progress with each command for each week.  This way it gets you and your dog more and more proficient each day as well as working more for verbal and physical praise rather than treats.  Then each week the dog trainer will test you and your dog on the commands.

Here is a list of the material and dog obedience commands we will be going over in the course:

  • Operant & Classical Conditioning
  • The Learning Theory of Dogs
  • Lures
  • Marker Training
  • Nutrition & Toys
  • Grooming your pet

Dog Training for Dogs of All Ages

Whether you have a brand new rambunctious puppy or an older dog who needs a bit of help with manners, dog training can be a great experience for you and your dog. Before you search for “dog training near me,” you should consider a few things about the training experience.

Is It Worth Training an Older Dog?

In spite of the old saying, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, is actually a false statement.  Whether it's a human or dog, if you can motivate them into learning something new, they will try to learn it.  Even though they may be older and may not learn as fast, it's still worth it to try.  Having a good dog training program with a professional dog trainer can work on basic commands, correct issues with potty training, teach new skills through positive reinforcement, and even refresh previous dog obedience training. This can give you and your dog a better life together.

Is Dog Training Stressful for Dogs?

Training can be stressful for dogs, especially when they first begin the training process.  It can also be difficult if you don't have clear communication with your dog to help them understand the tasks and expectations of them.  Ask your dog's trainer to help you recognize the signs of stress during your dog training classes and practice sessions.  These may include sniffing, scratching, yawning, avoiding eye contact and lying down.  You can decrease your dog's stress and anxiety by using positive reinforcement training and making training a fun exercise.  Keep the environment relaxed, and when you give a command and your dog responds correctly, provide plenty of genuine praise and attention.  Lots of snuggles help, too.

Is Dog Training Worth the Money?

If you want a very well behaved and obedient dog, then attending dog training courses on a regular basis and with the proper equipment are definitely worth the money.  Your dog's trainer will help you set realistic training goals, and your dog will learn everything from basic commands to more advanced movements.  As you and your dog become more advanced in your dog training, you might choose to move to a higher-level program with some off-leash training.  A few private lessons or a good off-leash dog training course, will help you get to that level of being able to comfortably have your dog off-leash and safe.  So enroll your dog into one of our dog training courses. Both you and your dog will learn a lot.
